Hen Party In Croatia

As the warm Adriatic sun sets the perfect backdrop, Split offers a charming blend of rich history, vibrant nightlife, and unique scenery, making it an ideal destination for celebrating love and friendship.

Whether you’re the Maid of Honor entrusted with planning or a close friend eager to pitch in, let’s take a look at the best things to do on an ultra-memorable Bachelorette trip.

Perfect Split Hen Party Itinerary

Before we jump in, it’s important to figure out some criteria. What do you want out of your bachelorette? Or, if you’re organizing one for a friend, what would you like? Have a clear idea of the type of experience you want, and that way, it’ll be easier to plan.

Of course, you also need to know how many nights you want to stay. For a great experience, I’d recommend 3-4 days. But, of course, the choice is yours!

Let’s explore my ideas for the perfect Split Bachelorette itinerary, and then you can go from there, depending on your trip goals!

Planning A Hen Party

Day 1

Morning

The Palace Of Diocletian - A stone building with columns and a stone walkway, recognized as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Croatia.

This is your first day, so you’re not going to be hungover yet. That means you can get up early and head out for a beautiful breakfast. Café Lvxor is an excellent choice, with an amazing breakfast menu. I recommend you order the Smoothie Popeye to give you an energy boost before you all head out for some sightseeing.

Your first stop is Diocletian’s Palace. This is a must-visit; you can’t go to Split and not check this place out. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it’s exceptionally Insta-worthy. It’s the ideal place for bachelorette photos to kick off your few days in Split. It might also be worth hiring a guide so you can learn more and get the most out of your time.

Afternoon

Balkan Trip: One Month In The Balkans Itinerary - Marjan Hill overlooking Split Riva

You will probably have worked up an appetite with all the sightseeing, so head to a local restaurant for lunch. There are plenty around the Diocletian’s Palace area.

Then, it’s time to head to Marjan Hill for some fantastic views and fresh air. Get your camera ready, as you’ll be able to see right across the city towards the sea, with plenty of bars lining the waterfront.

Oh, and just last week, a new observation point opened up there, which you can’t miss!

Evening

It’s time for dinner and drinks at one of the many bars and clubs that the city has to offer! You won’t struggle to find a fantastic restaurant, but Bokeria is an excellent choice. It’s popular, so it’s best to book ahead, especially if you’re a larger group. This restaurant is renowned for delicious Mediterranean cuisine and fantastic wine and cocktails.

Once you’re done eating, head out to X Club. This is a large gay club, but it’s super-safe, and a group of women will be able to enjoy it without any hassle at all. The drinks are strong, with plenty of cocktails to choose from, and it’s the best chance to dance the night away.

Other Nightlife Activities

  • Academia Ghetto Club. An artsy and alternative club known for its eclectic crowd and music.
  • Charlie’s Bar. A beloved backpacker’s bar with a relaxed, social atmosphere, perfect for pre-drinks or a casual night out.
  • Central Club Split. One of the top clubs in Split, offering a high-energy vibe and great music.
  • Club 305. A popular spot known for its lively atmosphere and dance music.
  • Fabrique Pub.  A hybrid between a club and a pub, great for both dancing and chilling out with drinks.
  • Vanilla Club. A large club featuring themed nights and a mix of house and electronic music.

Day 2

Morning

A wooden menu with the text "Brasserie on Seven" lies on a green tablecloth, surrounded by upside-down glasses and cutlery—perfect for a chic hen party in Split, Croatia. B7 Split

Hopefully, there are no hangovers to interfere with today’s plans, but if there are, grab a big breakfast before you head out! And, of course, coffee was washed down with plenty of water for rehydration.

Brasserie on 7 is a great spot for breakfast with a sea view. You can sit and relax before going about your day, and if you do have a hangover, they make great cocktails to help you get back on track.

Afternoon

Sandy Beaches in Croatia_Bacvice Beach Split

Then, head over to Bacvice Beach for some swimming, tanning, and general relaxation. You don’t want to burn out too soon, after all! There are plenty of beachfront restaurants where you can grab some lunch and, if you’re up for it, a few cocktails on the beach!

Evening

Split Or Zadar - Split Croatia at sunrise

After a day of relaxation, it’s time to get glammed up and hit the town again. Start with a beautiful seafood dinner. Konoba Nikola is one of the best spots for this, with fish caught that day. If fish isn’t your thing, they do have other options on their rather extensive menu.

Then, head over to Marvlvs for sunset cocktails. This jazz bar is chilled out and calm, ideal for letting your dinner digest and enjoying the sunset with a drink in hand. The outdoor seating is perfect for all of this, but again, make sure you reserve a table.

Then, if you want to head out dancing again (why not, it’s your bachelorette), then Club Central is open until the sun comes back up. You could even book a VIP table for a special touch.

Day 3

It’s the final day of your bachelorette trip, so it’s time for some pampering, relaxation, and a bit more sightseeing.

Morning

SJ, Mirela and Maria posing for a photo on a party boat in Split, Croatia.

Head out for a healthy brunch at Café Baba, renowned for its fresh, delicious menu. They also do fantastic coffee, which you’ll probably need!

Then, you have two options. You can either head off for a spa morning, perhaps somewhere like Le Meridien Lav Spa, or you can go on a half-day boat trip. The beautiful Blue Cave is a short distance away, and booking a private boat is the ideal way to relax and reclaim your energy from the night before.

Afternoon

A person wearing a gold chain necklace and an orange top with black floral patterns, ideal attire for exploring Split indoor attractions or discovering rainy day activities in Split.
Breaktime Croatia Shop Split

Once you’re finished in the spa or on the boat, it’s time for some lunch and shopping. Head over to Marmontova Street, where you’ll find many cafes and bistros that serve something special to eat. You’ll also find plenty of shops for a little retail therapy – it has to be done! Be sure to stop past Break Time’s handmade jewelry.

If you have time, you could also take an afternoon winetasting tour. On this tour, you can sample local Croatian wines at a nearby vineyard paired with cheese and charcuterie.

Evening

Finally, it’s time for a farewell dinner, where you can sit and reminisce on all the amazing memories you’ve made together. For this special occasion, why not try Zinfandel, a stylish restaurant known for its inventive cuisine and local flavors?

It offers a relaxed yet refined atmosphere, perfect for wrapping up your trip in style. The menu is inspired by Dalmatian traditions with a modern twist, making it an ideal place to experience the essence of Croatian cuisine before you leave. Be sure to pair your meal with a glass of fine wine from their excellent selection, including local Zinfandels.

If you want to head out one last time, why not go to a chilled-out cocktail bar? After all, you’re traveling tomorrow! Paloma Nera Cocktail Bar is a great choice where you can sit and talk, sampling the extensive drink menu as you unwind and savor your final night in town.

Best Time To Go On A Hen Weekend In Split

Choosing the right time for your hen party in Split is key to making sure you have the best experience possible. The city is popular year-round, but if you want a mix of sun, fewer crowds, and budget-friendly options, timing your trip can make a huge difference.

For a sun-filled beach escape, the best time to plan your hen party in Split is between May and September. Let’s break it down:

May to early June

It’s perfect if you want to beat the summer crowds but still enjoy warm, sunny weather. Expect temperatures around 20–25°C, ideal for lounging on the beach or exploring the city without the heat being overwhelming.

Accommodation prices are also more reasonable than during the peak summer months, and it’s a great time to book villa stays and boat trips without the hassle of big crowds, especially in 2024.

July to August

This is the peak of Split’s summer season, with temperatures soaring to around 30°C. Y

ou’ll have access to the city’s most vibrant nightlife, beach clubs, and festivals, like Ultra Europe, but be prepared for bigger crowds and higher prices. If your group loves the idea of mingling with the party crowd and basking in the hottest weather, this is the time to go. Just remember to book accommodation and activities well in advance to secure the best spots.

September

One of the best-kept secrets for traveling to Split. The weather remains warm, around 25°C, but the summer rush has died down.

You’ll still get plenty of sunshine for beach days and boat trips, and the sea is at its warmest, making it the perfect time to relax and soak up the last of the summer vibes without the frenzy of high season.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly hen do or are planning an early spring trip, April and October are also lovely times to visit.

The weather is milder, in the range of 15-20°C, which is great for sightseeing and enjoying Split’s vibrant Old Town, though beach days might be a bit cooler. The upside? You’ll find some excellent deals on accommodation and flights.

Getting Around In Split: Your Hen Party Transport Guide

Navigating Split is simple, and the compact size of the city means you won’t need to worry about long journeys between activities. Here’s a quick guide to help your hen party get around easily:

On Foot

Split’s Old Town and waterfront (the Riva) are best explored on foot. Most of the attractions, like Diocletian’s Palace, Marjan Hill, and the city’s best restaurants and bars, are within walking distance of each other. So, pack some comfortable shoes for those sightseeing strolls!

Uber and Taxis

For those nights when you’ve been dancing until dawn or you need a quick ride back to your villa, Uber is widely available in Split and often cheaper than traditional taxis. You can also hail a taxi on the street or at a taxi stand. Make sure to agree on a price in advance if you opt for a taxi, especially during peak season when prices can fluctuate.

Public Transport

Split’s bus system is reliable and affordable, with buses running throughout the city and out to surrounding areas. For example, Bus No. 12 will take you from Split’s city center to Kasjuni Beach on Marjan Hill. Tickets can be purchased at kiosks or directly from the driver, but make sure to have some local currency (kuna or euros, depending on when you’re traveling) handy.

Scooter or Bike Rentals

Want a fun and flexible way to get around? Renting a scooter or bike can be an excellent option, especially for those days when you want to explore areas like Marjan Hill or take a leisurely ride along the coastline. Several rental shops in Split offer daily rates, and it’s an easy and affordable way to zip around the city.

Boat Transfers

For a bit of luxury or if you’re planning island-hopping as part of your hen do, consider booking a private boat transfer. You can organize a day trip to nearby islands like Hvar or Brac or even arrange a sunset cruise from Split’s marina. Several companies offer both private and group tours, making it easy to plan something special for your group.

Airport Transfers

If you’re flying into Split, getting to your accommodation is hassle-free. The airport is about 30 minutes away from the city center, and you have a few options for transfers. Private shuttles or taxis are the most convenient, especially for large groups, while the airport bus is a budget-friendly alternative. It drops you off right by the ferry port, which is close to most accommodations in the city.

I recommend Octopus Transfers in particular.

Extra Tips For An Amazing Bachelorette In Split

To make sure your trip goes without a hitch, here are some extra things to bear in mind.

Book Your Hen Party In Advance – Always Make Reservations

We’ve mentioned this a few times, but it’s vital that you make reservations ahead of time if you are traveling during the peak periods. That’s why having an itinerary is such a good idea. Some of Split’s best restaurants, clubs, and bars are often very busy, especially during the summer season. Add to that the fact that many bachelorettes have several people in them, and you’ll need to call up and reserve your space.

You can also reserve VIP spots for an extra charge, and they’ll make sure that your evening goes off with a bang.

The same reservation idea goes for trips and spas. Private boat trips need to be arranged in advance, and if there are several of you, spas also need prior notice.

Just think of it this way: it pays to be organized to keep your trip as smooth as possible. You really don’t want to be sorting out problems and fixing itinerary issues when you’re trying to enjoy yourself, or when you have a hangover!

Look For Local Events

It’s a good idea to look for local festivals, events, and celebrations taking place during your visit. That way, you can infuse your time with something a little cultural too. You can also check online just before you go to see if there are any concerts, as these change from year to year.

However, the following celebrations are annual, and they offer plenty to see and do:

  • New Year’s Day (Nova Godina), celebrated on January 1st, is a day for Split to ring in the New Year with street parties and festivities throughout the city.
  • Carnival (Karneval) – Celebrated in February, this vibrant event features colourful parades, folks in costumes, music, and numerous parties leading up to Ash Wednesday.
  • St. Joseph’s Day (Dan Svetog Josipa) is a festival held on March 19th. It includes religious celebrations and local fairs, primarily focusing on family and community.
  • The Marathon of the City of Split. Usually held in April, this athletic event draws runners from around the world and showcases the city’s scenic routes.
  • Split Summer Festival. Running from mid-July to mid-August, this renowned festival features music, theatre, and dance performances in historical venues throughout the city.
  • Feast of St. Domnius (Sveti Duje). Split’s patron saint feast is celebrated on May 7th. It features a procession, religious ceremonies, and various cultural activities.
  • Split Music Festival (Splitski Festival). Typically held in late July, this festival showcases classical music performances, featuring local and international artists.
  • Ultra Europe Music Festival. Usually taking place in mid-July, this massive electronic music festival attracts fans from across Europe for a weekend of top-tier DJ performances.
  • Diocletian’s Days (Dioklecijanovi Dvori). Celebrated in late August, this festival reenacts life in Roman times, with historical music, workshops, and performances in the ancient city.
  • Advent in Split. Starting from late November through December, this festive season features Christmas markets, lights, food stalls, concerts, and various events leading up to Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
  • New Year’s Eve (Doček Nove Godine). On December 31st, Split hosts public celebrations with live music, fireworks, and parties to welcome the New Year.

Think Carefully About Accommodation

Depending on how many of you are attending the bachelorette, it’s important to think about accommodation. After all, you want to be together, right?
